RESEARCH UPDATE: Mortality from gunshot wounds tied to distance to a trauma center

A recent article in the American Journal of Public Health reiterates the need for improved trauma services on the Southside of Chicago. By working with prominent health disparities researchers to look at mortality rates in vulnerable populations, Dr. Crandall shows that the populations in  Chicago situated more than 5 miles from a trauma center are at a greater risk of dying from gun violence. The study is great and there are some sweet maps to really drive the point home.
